The 2008 9th Australian Adoption Conference was held at the Stamford Plaza in Bondi, Sydney Australia.

It was the first time that Megan and I had attended such an event, and our
lives have been forever changed as a result of the information we absorbed during the conference.

 

Jeanette's Comments:

Since reading Christine's Book, I have come to a much deeper understanding of what really happened to my Mother - and I feel so sad for her. It's a brand new concept for me to consider myself as a "stolen baby" - for so many years I've been considering myself as a somewhat "unwanted baby" - but I'm learning that it wasn't "unwanted babies" more accurately it was "unwanted Mothers", and this revelation infact makes me feel angry, and this knowledge changes everything, again.

A system where, when a woman was "unmarried" and vulnerable with no family support - she was entered into a system that judged her for keeping, and judged her for "so called - giving away" - a system that took no responsibility for it's actions. A system that denied her the support and love of her family by promoting them to feel "shamed by their daughter's actions" a system that said "this is for the best" - "think of the child", "if you love your child, you will give it away, to people who can give your child everything", "don't you want your child to have everything?, everything that's important", "one day, when your married, you can have a child of your own" .......

I wish my Mother was alive now, in a time that acknowledges what she was trying to say all along, since she "woke up" and allowed her feelings to surface.

At the end of the day, The Law of Nature has been broken - this is "the law" that ought not be broken - ramifications and consequences are diabolical.
